Kingston’s Amelia Rose to feature in UK Vogue – Kingston News

Fashion aficionados in Kingston have another reason to celebrate theirs in January 2022, as Amelia Rose – the brand, as well as the designer – will be included in the UK edition of the iconic fashion bible.

The January issue will feature the astonishing Amelia Rose, modeling one of her most coveted works; the crushed velvet kimono, which seamlessly (pun intended) blends the chic look of crushed velvet with the relaxed, comfortable and classic beauty of a dress – effortless elegance par excellence.

In a Vogue release on Amelia Rose The Label, the venerable style encyclopedia praised Rose’s imaginative work:

By posting the article on social media, Rose frankly expressed her reactions.

“I can’t even express what I’m feeling! Seeing my name and my photo made me wonder if this was real and also made me wonder “why me? “”, She wrote.

Born and raised in Kingston, Rose said she traveled a lot growing up, and while her life in Kingston contributed to her flair for fashion, it was during her various travels that she drew a much of his inspiration to create his unique badges, bringing back the culmination of his style experience to enrich the Kingston fashion scene.

“There have been several journeys for me, from Algonquin College for the tourism industry, to obtaining my certificates in aesthetics and makeup. All of this led me to start my first business venture in the beauty industry for a few years until I had my first child, which put that on hold and caused me to re-evaluate my goals. and my passions, which led me to make children’s clothing. This was the starting point for Amelia Rose The Label. I changed my name and moved into women’s fashion, ”said Rose of the factors that contributed to her career as a designer.

Returning to the theme of her social media post regarding the Vogue feature, Rose said she was baffled when British Vogue contacted her about her work with the aim of including it in the magazine which is often featured. ” The Fashion Bible, “so much so that she then asked Vogue why her work, among thousands of other designer examples, was chosen for the magazine.

Her children, Rose said, were a major factor in the start of her career – which started with children’s wear before becoming the women’s fashion brand capturing the attention of some of fashion’s biggest influencers.

A graduate of Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute (KCVI), Rose said most of her work experience prior to her fashion ventures has been in the food industry, where, since the age of 14, she has helped with his parents’ restaurant business in Kingston. After high school, she attended college in Ottawa, where she then began her work which eventually led her to rise in the fashion world.
